    OK,

Do you remove AppleSMC.kext and now it boot fine? (Only using -v to se possible errors) ?

Crash in what? When you started with -s it's shows a prompt to type commands.

If not showing, post a picture for error.

    Boot with -s

(wait some time to see prompt)

    When you see that type:

    /sbin/mount -uw /

    rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMC.kext

    exit

And nothing more...you last error is in AppleSMC again?

Default 10.5 Part solution i think

I'm a .net windows developer not a mac head, but im having the same problem with the drive being write locked.

    Im running windows XP SP3.

    I re-partitioned 30gb of drive0 leaving 199gb for xp

In VMware Workstation 6, I mount the drive as physical(have tried virtual also)

With Jas 10.5.4 I eventually come to a gray screen after typing -v at the darwin prompt which if i leave it for about an hr until it kicks into life with a multicoloured wheel. eventually an hr later i get a top apple menu, a log viewer window with a message box asking me to shutdown or restart i can click terminal which if i leave for age eventually comes up but no commands seem to function.

With Kalyway 10.5.2 same problem. Drive is still write locked.

Now on windows when a file or directory is locked and i cannot delete it even in dos, i use drive unlocker. So at the point of error in the bootloader i tried going back into xp and unlocking the drive which i found 3 processes on all stemming from svchost.exe, so i unlocked and killed the processes, it seemed to flie through the bootloader with a lot less erroring because of a locked drive.

But again didnt work it locked up initialising dsmos

    When using the switch -s

and typing at the prompt '/sbin/fsck -fy'

I get on enter, I dont know enough about the apple bootloader but

is this suggesting that im trying to install on the cd-rom.

Now my hdd is located at //PhysicalDrive(0) Partition(2)

or does the mac os not follow zero based collections

    ** /dev/rdisk1s2
    ** Root File system
** Checking Non-journaled HFS Plus volume
    ** Checking Extents Overflow file.
    ** Checking Catalog file.
    ** Checking multi-linked files
    ** Checking Catalog hierachy.
    ** Checking Extended Attributes file.
    ** Checking volume bitmap.
    ** Checking volume information.
** The volume Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd appears to be ok

Any suggestions on this problem would be much appreciated

This is a Physical Installation or VMware Installation...

    Unhappy

VMware using, physical disk Persistant disk, as i planned to modify boot.ini with tboot or chain0.

For some reason my pioneer dvd-r decided to pack up on the day i first tried to install osx and was saved by the idea vmware might let me work arround the problem of not being able to burn so i bought a copy after seeing how useful vmware ws 6 is. DVD-R Reads just doesnt write no more. Sods law!!!

I also forgot to mention looking in acronis there is a 4gb xp restore disk before the C: partition hidden on the drive. So the indended osx86 drive is third partition
    on disk0.

which is why im thinkng ** /dev/rdisk1s2 (NO WRITE) is either my DVD-ROM or DVD-Writer on the ide channel.

Thanks in advance for any advice

is there a switch i can use to set the partition.

"diskutil list" at the prompt also wont work.

i tried just -legacy at the darwin prompt and the screen turned grey with apple logo and activity progress animation until a white kinda no smoking sign comes up.

is this darwin just loading without verbose mode hitting the same issue.
