Was hoping that someone would be so kind as to look over my specs and help me find any issues i may have. I installed osx a while back and everything worked as far as I could tell but after i logged off and shut down the system for the first time. When I went to use my laptop again, my wifi wouldn't work... at that point in time I gave up and formatted and never attempted again.
However, now I've got the urge to try again, a bit harder this time... i've been using "FLYAKITEOSX" to get that look and feel. But It's simply just a skin.... windows is still plaguing my system... so to speak. After looking at all the ghetto ass icons of windows since windows 3.11 all the way up to current vista ultimate. I just like the clean crisp look of the MAC OSX.
Now on a side note, What is this "BOOT CAMP" thing I keep hearing about? Since the system is natively a PC, will I have to use this software to make windows and OSX play nice? I'm afraid I don't know too much about macs to make myself at least sound semi intelligent about it. plz don't flame me, I really would like to learn this.
You have a Radeon XPRESS 200M. Don't bother with OS X if you care about any from of graphics acceleration.
plz elaborate. Since i'm new, I'm gonna need some information.
There's no way to install drivers?
at least that's what was pulled up with the search option... lol only question i have is WTF does it all mean.
It should work on 10.4.9.
The patched ATIRadeon9700.kext is necessary for all radeon based cards.
If you dont have QE/CI by default, apply "koverg patch", and setup "callisto" properly.
search pulled up 900000000000000000000000 referances to the individual texts but I couldn't find one to Define said words/acronyms... or whatever they are.

QE/CI is Quartz Extreme and Core Image, it is the OS X 2d and 3d video acceleration format.
kext is a file extension similar to a DLL on a PC it can be a driver or a package of information to make a piece of software or hardware work.
Koverg patch is a patch having to do with either audio or sound.. I don't recall which one.
Callisto is a patch to allow the ability for native resolution of a monitor. I don't believe it will enable QE/CI, but I could be wrong.
I have the same graphics chipset and I don't have a problem with it. I have 2 GB of RAM, so that may make a difference. I run photoshop, illustrator, indesign and acrobat. I haven't ran those a lot but from what I have done, it seems to work okay.
lol sorry for playing 20 questions. but do you think the wifi thing will still be an issue?
or have the recent updates fixed it? my last attempt was X.X.6 if i remember properly.
The wifi card is a Broad Com... Some have reported success with certain broadcom chipsets. You will need to find the specific chipset number and do a search here or insanelymac.com. If you look up the vendor ID and Device ID in the properties of the wifi card in the device manager in windows.
