disk erase problems
i have an asus p5n-e sli motherboard with a quad core intel 4gb ram, 2x nvidea 8600 gt video cards, both with 1028mb ram, 750 gb SATA drive, dvd drive is IDE
i boot kalyway 10.5.2 by pressing f8 and using commands
CPUS=1 -X -V
this gets me to the install screen with no problems, however, soon as i go to disk utility and try to erase one of my partitions, it comes back saying there is an error with I/O,
i select to erase using mac os journaled, as instruncted, i can't get any further than this because it has problems writing files to the selected disk.
i partitioned the drive using partition magic 8, setting it to 200gb and primary, then used windows to set it as active.
what do i have to do to to get round this??
thanks people!!!!:hack:

Hi! If u have vista try with Disk Management to make a RAW Partition and active the partition, or try with Gparted.

same result

tried your instruction to resize and use it as RAW set as active,
got the exact same result, so i went to erase the whole disk, as i can install windows anytime,same error again,
is this due to motherboard settings, or because it is sata??
i'v just tried on my external hd, this time a different error came up saying invalid argument, that was through firewire, gonna try it through usb, will there be a way to boot from my external drive if it is successfuly installed on a partiton on the external drive??

tried with the external drive with no luck again, error came up with invalid argument.
Last thing i have done is to boot with windows 98 disk, and completly reformated my hard drive through the night, gonna try a clean install with leopard and see what happens then, again!!

Ok, I been reading about your motherboard, is nForce chipset based, you will be better off with iAtkos 1.0i r3 or Leo4all v2 :hack:
Before Installation make sure your Bios its set like this:
* HPET: Enabled
* Jmicron SATA Controller: Disable
* Onboard IEEE1394: Disable
Boot from the DVD. Press F8 when it asks you and enter the options "-v" [If it doesn't load/freeze/kernel panic boot with "-v -f cpus=1"]
When it is loaded, open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu
Select your hard drive and click on partition
On Volume Schme select 1 partition and enter your desire name,
On format select as MAC OS X Extended (Journaled)
On options select as Master Boot Record
Create the partition
Quit Disk Utility
And I hope this time you can run the Installation

i followed the instructions to partition partion scheme 1, it wouldn't let me,
soooo, i partioned into two drives and installed leo4allv3 onto the seconed partition, was gonna put xp on partition1.
the install was spot on, on first boot i just let it roll without the disk in,
it got into the boot screen and halted just after it said something about 'itunes phone driver', after about a minute it said waiting for rood device,
i the install disk into the dvd drive then it came up with a panic,
this picture is what i get
thanks for the help
