create custom Leopard installation packages
Could someone shed some light on how to create custom Leopard installation packages (xar format) that can go with customized Leopard installation DVD?
Thanks

I know you need to install the dev tools, but beyond that I have no idea. I'd like to know as well so I can make a custom install disk for my machine.

The leo installer can install old package format too. So you can create this packs with the old 10.4.3 packagemaker (to avoid version checking) and then add the references inside the OSInstall.mpkg file. This is a XARed file in Leo (wasnt like that on Tiger)....
what you need to do (leo only):
-copy the OSInstall.mpkg frrom the leo installer to a folder in your desktop
-cd /to/that/folder
-unpack the OSInstall.mpkg. within the terminal type:
xar -x -v -f OSInstall.mpkg
-modify the Distribution file (add entries for your pkgs)
-delete the OSInstall within the folder you created
-repack the mod OSInstall.mpkg onto your desktop
xar -c ./ -v -f ~/desktop/OSInstall.mpkg
Follow this thread to see more details about how to add the entries for the new packages. The Distribution file works in the same way as the OSInstall.dist from the Tiger installer.
thats that. If you scripted your entries right your files will be added.
