Default [Bootloader] No way booting without DVD

    Hello all.

First of all, I apologize if this topic has been vastly treated in the forum, believe me I've been reading everywhere, tried the proposed solutions and had no success.

After bricking my fine working 10.5.4 installation on modded Compaq Presario C700 (Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 and 1 extra Gb RAM added) trying to install 10.5.5 update, I had to recover my installation with Time Machine, from the Installation DVD.

Thanks god everything was there but, since that moment, I'm not able to boot without the installation DVD in.

I've renamed (AF) and flagged as "active" my Leo partition, installed efi bootloader from OsX Tools and from bootefi script, with no success. In fact, the only change I've appreciated is: from blinking cursor and nothing happening to:

    "boot0: MBR
    boot0: MBR
    boot0: done" (and nothing happening)

I've tried installing GUID (it was my option when originally installed Kalyway 10.5.1) and MBR efi's. NO WAY.

    Please help me guys.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi f41qu3

My computer is a laptop Compaq Presario C735-EM, but changed the processor (from intel Celeron M 540 to Intel Core 2 Duo T7500) and added 1 Gb extra memory to a total of 2 Gb 667 Mhz RAM. 120 Gb SATA2 Seagate drive, SATA dual layer DVD (LG, I think), intel integrated graphics X3100 (working with hardware acceleration and Quatz trough NATIT) and sound (in and out jacks not working, only integrated speakers), realtek LAN (working out of the box), Atheros AR5006EG WiFi (not working at all).

I first installed Kalyway 10.5.1, then Kalyway 10.5.3 Combo Update, then 10.5.4 from Apple and then I got into Apple again for 10.5.5 and screwed it all.

With Kalyway 10.5.1 installation DVD, and trough TimeMachine, I've recovered my Leo installation and successfully upgraded to 10.5.5, but can't boot from HD (not to mention, but I COULD boot from HD before the "disaster")

Yesterday I realized I had partitioned my drive with MBR instead of GUID as it was originally. I thought this could be the problem and reformatted to GUID, but still not working. What I get now is:

    "boot0: GPT
    boot 0: HFS+
    boot 0: error"

Something very strange for me is that my Leopard partition, reading Disk Utility should be d0s2 but in fdisk the only partition that seems to exist is 1, marked as EE, named GPT and flagged "Active".

I don't want to go to a fresh reinstall because I think the solution must be there, but I just can't reach it... please help!

    Thank you!!

    Hi.

I finally solved the issue following Netkas' guide "about GUID" I guess the problem was my PC_EFI was not properly installed.

Thank you all for your help!
