I have this board:

GA-965P-S3 82801HB ICH8:


And all SATA ports work fine using AppleVIAATA.kext for JMicron and ICH8. But when I tried AHCI for both, the JMicron ports (purple) work under GenericAHCI but only the right two orange ports are detected under ICH7M, Ports-00/-01. Fiddled with all AHCI BIOS settings to no success of all four ports detection.

This board however...

GA-965P-DS4 82801HR ICH8R:


...can make all six ports work under AHCI. Theoretically it is possible to enable all four orange ports on MY board (GA-965P-S3) to work using ICH8R mode (without the raid of course), but OS X detection stops at Ports-02/-03 simply because:

...and by Disabling the middle ports instead of the last two, OS X cannot detect Ports-04/-05. Now, I am looking for a way to "extend" OS X's AHCI detection past the middle ports and through to the last two, and thus enabling full functionality for all four orange ports (ICH8) under AHCI.

If I increase the <key>IOProbeScore</key> of AppleAHCIPort.kext's Generic AHCI section from 800 to a higher number, will this work? I am cautious to the extents of damage I can cause due to data corruption if I fool around to much, and this is territory that I have only entered now.

I've read and done all I could, but there are just some things I still cannot do or understand. So I can't wait for the genius to find the answer to this twiddling annoyance.

Hi, i have the same modo, but dont have sucess in put AHCI to work, u can help me?
I edit AppleAHCIport.kexts and pud my device ID but my system only BOOT up if my OSX HD in plugd in JMB sata.
