Interesting news on the DRM-cracking front. Apparently SMB has been cracked and can be installed and run without paying for it AND in unsupported countries.

If you're interested, google it, it's the obvious keywords. Also, it involves some ssh-ing and permission changes etc. If you don't know how to do that, stick with appstore or try to learn by searching and reading this forum, please don't post for help to install it.

Well I dont condone piracy but ive just checked out your info and your right it has indeed been cracked and I just tried it for myself (please dont PM me about it)!!

Personally im not much of a gamer however I dont think I would waste $9.99 on this. The graphics are superb and it really does feel like the "first" proper game for the iphone however it is a bit repetitive after a few goes!

Anyhow I think Apple should give one level demos of their games as I think its a bit much shelling out for something you have not seen on a mobile device!!

Back to Texas Holdem - (I bought this one!)

I knew this'd be done after 2.0 jailbreak but I didn't think it'd be this easy. Sadly this is ultimately bad for us users since a lot of developers will be discouraged because the apps are so easy to crack.

Either that or it will make things a pain for unlockers. Now that the apps have been cracked, we might start to see the same type of situation that there is on the PSP, where running the latest apps will require a firmware update at least once a month that does nothing except patch DRM holes. And of course, since they'll do a firmware update, they'll obviously bundle a new baseband, which means you'll need to wait for an unlock and go through the pains of restoring your device every time.

Hum, if the firmware update only fixes DRM holes why do it ? The only way to force you would be to require it to access the appstore. But I doubt they'll do that as there no obligation on your part to update every month.

Anyway, from what I understood they haven't found a general method to crack things, I'm guessing it was just a hex-edit of sorts to make the phone think the app is free and listed in someone else's account.

confirmed. it does work by ssh'ing the files onto the iPhone. I bought the app a couple days ago anyways. It's always good to support the developers.

Nah, it wasn't deleted on the source. Probably some server problems since they still mention it on their mainpage. Also, it spread out so much in forums it's not hard to find.

My friends back home (unsupported country) to which I bought iphones for in the past year were really happy about it, since they couldn't get it legally.
