    Default SMS app

I'm currently thinking of creating a promoting like application.

I'd like to create basically a group SMS application with a few twists. I haven't found any information on how I can send SMS from my application or at least tie into the SMS system?
I'm not too worried about seeing the SMS tracking the sms I send, it would be nice, but I almost don't want to see them, just know that they have been sent.

Currently i have to select my friends one by one and this is getting really old.

    Any help would be appreciated!

ps: if such application already exists, please point me in the right direction.

iSMS is an open-source app for 1.1.4. So you can get the source code and port it to 2.0 firmware and make necessary changes.
