Keep in mind that the iPhone and original iPod Touch have the following specifications:
Processor: 412 MHz
Memory: 128 MB
The second generation iPod Touch has the following specifications:
Processor: 533 MHz
Memory: 128 MB
When you consider that the iPhone OS takes up 94 MB memory simply to sit there and look back at you.
That leaves 34 MB of "available" memory for running applications.
So, either way you look at it... it is a difficult task to pull off with a complicated game such as Asphalt 4 or the like.
If you think that it is running slowly for you, odds are that it is running slowly for the rest of the world as well.
