How to convert video files directly on an iOS device
Generally, if you want to watch local video files on an iOS device, you need to make sure they are iTunes-, iPhone-, iPad-, or iPod-compatible first. For the video files that can be accepted by iPhone/iPod touch/iPad, you just connect the device with computer via cable and then open iTunes to sync them to the device. However, for the non-compatible video files, you have to convert them first. A great majority of video converters provide optimized profile presets for Apple devices, so you don't need to know about what formats you should convert the video files into. But if you do want to know, you can check out the Tech Specs page of the device in the Apple official page.
