Default [iTunes 8] How do we know which apps need to be updated?

I am using iTunes 8 on a PC with Windows Vista, and I have about 50 apps. Is there a way to know which apps have been updated and which ones need to be updated on the computer? When I go into the installed applications tab in iTunes, I see at the bottom a message indicating that I have 15 updates, but when I click on it, it doesn't do anything. Is it supposed to update the apps that I have installed on the computer? If so, it's not doing it. Is anybody else having this problem? Is there a way to know which apps need to be updated? This is very annoying! I don't want to have to delete any apps because I have some on the computer that don't exist in iTunes, like Tris and NetShare because I downloaded them from iTunes before Apple pulled them. Also, is there a way for me to back up the files for these apps that are stored on my computer so that I won't lose them? Thank you for any input!

How about updated them on your iPhone then moving to iTunes?

Actually, my phone tells me that I need to update 2 apps, but when I go to the "Update" tab in the AppStore, it doesn't show me any apps to update. It is really odd. This started to happen when Apple changed the links to apps in iTunes this past weekend. I don't have any hacked apps, and I only use one iTunes account. It must be some bug.

When I click on it, I get a message saying, "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active and try again.". My internet connection is working fine, and I'm able to download apps with iTunes. I can even download apps that have been udated, but I have to look for them manually. That wouldn't be a problem as long as I knew which apps need to be updated! This is really frustrating!

Has anybody else experienced this? I am also having problems updating on my iPhone! I don't have any hacked apps, and I only use one user account with iTunes!

On the app page there should be a link to the bottom right letting you see the updates. Your applications are kept in your iTunes music folder. That should be under your OS default documents folder. Just do a search for an ipa file (*.ipa)

Not to be excessively accusatory, but, well, that's piracy for ya'.

    MobileInstallationPatch can mess this up

iTunes only updates Apps you buy.

FYI, I have ZERO pirated apps in iTunes or on my phone, and I have never installed MobileInstallationPatch on my phone. So you are 100% wrong in the assumption that you made, and you are being accusatory and making idiotic assumptions. Nowhere in my post did I say that I had installed pirated apps!

I'm also having a problem, ever since I changed my debit card details, iTunes nor does the iPhone show any updates for apps, I came across a latest version of Delveries which iTunes or the iPhone should have been showing but iTunes and iPhone kept saying that the apps were up to date. Any help?
