Fring patched version stopping upgrade
Fring now has a new version.
Problem is that I used Winscp to copy in the patched version that allowed 3G voip calls.
So now a new real Fring is out and I try to update in the appstore and it fails over and over.
I have since gone in and deleted the Fring app folders and rebootd and it is no longer on my phone. But if I run the appstore, it automatically tries to load updates for fring and fails 2-3 minutes later, leaving a half installed fring icon.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Had the same problem...i end up having to restore again & reinstalling all my apps. Reinstalling all apps from itunes i just sync it. On cydia you can use AptBackup.
Kind a s**** but thats the only way I was able to bring it back.

I was able to reload the new version.
I had the same problem. Deleted the entire fring folder using winscp. Then also deleted fring from itunes. rebooted iphone and downloaded the fring app in itunes and synced the phone after that.
It worked.

I refuse to restore my phone over this.
It still isn't working. Gets half installed
I looked on the phone in syslog and it does get an error trying to archive the old folder for fring with the huge numeric name in the applications folder.
Here is the error:
Oct 19 21:43:53 iPhone /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iTunesStore.framework/Support/itunesstored[776]: perform_application_archive: Could not archive /private/var/mobile/Applications/3D0E79DD-C203-4C2B-ACA7-DC13BC82E18E to /private/var/mobile/Media/ApplicationArchives/com.Fringland.Fring.zip
Oct 19 21:43:53 iPhone /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iTunesStore.framework/Support/itunesstored[776]: MobileInstallationArchive: Could not archive the application
BUT, the good news is I remembered I backed up the ENTIRE folder to my computer using WinSCP before I patched Fring, so if I put it back, maybe it will upgrade. I'll try that tonight.

ok
I put back the whole folder, put back the orig fring.app folder I had saved. Rebooted.
AppStore worked fine, reloaded/installed the program, cleared up the problem.

work around available from cydia
VoIPover3G from Cydia obviates the need to hack fring, by tricking app into believing it is on wifi. Seems to work well
