What does this actually do? I have not installed this patch, and have always been able to take .ipa's from my iTunes and put them in someone else's iTunes and download them to their phone. Am I misunderstanding something?

You don't need this patch to install iTunes App. This is for developer.

    Hy javacom...
I've read through the whole thread and now I'm asking: on a 2G iPhone with 2.0.2 Firmware (installed via QuickPwn), should it be possible to install apps from the AppStore? Or is this procedure locked and thus in need of your patch?

Thanks in advance for your kind response...

They use the MobileInstallation patch to install pirate apps / games via iTunes
This patch, however, does not support this
Touch Dial is an easy-to-use application for one touch dial / sms icon on the home screen for iPhone.

This app can read the accelerometer and do phone dial or SMS dial for the same number based on the your setting for Portrait or Landscape Mode of iPhone.

... and so are you confirming that apps downloaded and installed from AppStore *the legal way* should be working fine on pwnaged iPhones 2g?

Anyone know what the difference is between this MobileInstallation patch and the one that is going around as the updated 2.1 MobileInstallation file?

I initially used the updated mobileinstallation file I found on the web. That worked great for hacked 3rd party apps, but it did nothing for my own developed apps. When I ssh'ed them, they wouldn't show on my SpringBoard. Then someone pointed me to this Cydia app on this thread and after installation, it showed the app I ssh'ed. But any other developed apps I ssh'ed after that wouldn't show up.

After trying everything, I decided to uninstall this app through Cydia and then all my ssh'ed apps showed up, finally! And it's working fine so far.

Anyone know what happened? Is there a cache that I need to clear everything I ssh a new app?

The MobileInstallation Patch and the patched binary are the same.

If you have ssh and app icons won't show up in the iPhone for firmware 2.1. You can do

    (1) Install an app from Cydia and this will update the cache

If I'm ssh'ing .apps to the phone (not using iTunes .ipa method) do I need to install this mobileinstallation patch, as on 2.0.2 I didn't need to do anything to the mobileinstallation?

Or do I just ssh to the phone, then install an app via Cydia to get them to show on springboard?
