First off, great work on this. I just wanted to mention that for me, it didn't initially work. I kept receiving error messages in iTunes when trying to sync apps. I had to change the permissions on the mobileinstallation file from 755 to 775. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but if so, having to ssh in kinda ruins the fun of this patch.

Default It just didn't work on 2.0.2

I can confirm, it worked like charm on 2.0.
But on 2.0.2 I was stuck with 0x8000002E error, I tried creating Documents folders, restoring phone, and fixing permissions but nothing helped.

After all I downloaded "2.0.2 mobileinstallation" prepatched binary (ask google for it) and it worked!

Finally I compared that prepatched binary with one created with this patch, and they differs.
I advise people with 2.0.2 to stay away from this patch, or wait for an update.

installing pre-patched binary is always better. But this site won't let me have this method of distribution

Running a patch on your iPhone can have uncertainties, as there are several variant jailbreak solutions, winpwn, quickpwn, pwnage, Mac or PC.

This patch is created for Xcode build process and it works for my installation. However, I did not test it on .ipa installation or 3G iPhone, as I don't use this to install app and I don't have my 3G jailbreak.

This is simply promoting piracy.. You are not liberating anyone from anything.. This is rampant Piracy. Not developer friendly.

Post #32 is promoting piracy not me.

MobileInstallation patch is not only use for installation of pirate wares, it was first patched by a developer in order to build and go XCode development project for iPhone.

Following your logic, pwnage tool is also promoting piracy as it patched the kernel to skip the codesign so that the wares can be run on iPhone.

I have nothing against patching kernel/safari/mobileinstallation for any ethical purpose. The only issue is the lost revenue of developers (Not AT&T when this is misused for.

If this kind of patches are available on Hackint0sh, it kind of gives it a legitimacy(No backdoors etc..). People will be wary of using such patches from untrusted sources. It is better to remove this thread or if this is intended as developer method, consider moving it to the developers forums.

    This is a sensitive issue.
We all know what the patching of mobileinstallation is for.

Like javacom said, he used it in order to build and go XCode development project for iPhone.

Other people use it to run apps they did not pay for

This forum allows discussions but does not allow posting of file or link to modified binary.

I said it before, people should use their judgement. One person told me he used it because he does not have a credit card. To me, that's bullshit
