No remote.... what's next?
Well, had an ATV 2, the remote stopped working for some reasons.
Could control the ATV using the Remote app on the iPhone, all good so far.
Then I felt like jailbreaking it and load xbmc on it.
Putting the ATV in DFU mode was not a straight forward process without a remote. That and the fact that there's no way I could have the HDMI cable plugged in and have the micro-USB cable connected at the same time. Who came up with that connector placement? moron...
I used Seas0nPass to download iOS 5.0.2, and create the patched firmware. Then I used RedSn0w to create a IPFW that would put the ATV in DFU mode and flashed it using iTunes.
From that point, Seas0nPass could start reflashing the ATV with the jailbroken ipfw.
What now? I'm stuck on a screen asking me what language I want to set the ATV. Without a working remote, it's not very promising.
I have access to the SSH shell, and followed the instructions to install the XBMC app.
I was thinking that maybe there is a way to manually start the remote learning screen from the command line ?
That way at least I would have a remote working and will be able to complete the setup screen.
Thanks in advance.
