Doubts on Jailbreaked ATV2

Hello everybody!
First of all thanks for all the info I have found here. It has been really clarifying.
Excuse if my English is not absolutely correct, it is not my mother language.

I have walked through the forum trying to find some answers on the "open" apple TV 2.
I would like to run (I'm afraid I'm not the only one) some OS on it so I can install and execute some applications. My first aim is a autoplay, seamless loop video player, like Quicktime. Later, I would like to use all its capabilities.
It seems possible to install and mac OS X on the earlier apple TV, but if I have understood everything correctly, ARM processor does not support that OS, only iOS.
It seems some (brave) people are trying to run linux on ATV2, I really wish them luck :)
So my first question is: If ATV2 runs over iOS, would it be possible to install an iOS developed app (like those on iPhone or iPad) on a jailbreaked ATV2?
I have read somethings about XMBC, but I found no answer to my question about seamless loop and autoplay. So my second question is: Would it be possible using XMBC?
I have some knowledge on programming, but just on application development, not OS, so I could do somethings myself, but I am afraid there are tasks that would be out of my scope

Installing another OS on the ATV2 is still a long way off. It will probably be possible eventually (via the iPhonelinux project)

Running other applications on the iOS variant that the ATV2 runs is still a work in progress. The fact that XBMC exists is a very good first step towards being able to port other iOS applications. Some of the code that was written to get XBMC working might be able to be reused to allow other iOS Apps to run.

I guess I will try using XMBC with that indications.
