Apple TV and iTunes

Hi, i'm a bit of a newbie but i'm hoping someone can help.

I've just bought a Lacie Network Space 2 (1TB NAS) and have transferred all my iTunes library over to it so that both PCs on the network can see the library.

All working great so far.

I want to buy an Apple TV (ideally version 2 but happy to go with version 1 if its the only way) and stream my media to my HD TV. Unfortunatly as i've now found out i need to have a PC (or Mac) turned on running iTunes in order for Apple TV to work. I'm not happy with this idea and want a way around it. Is there anyway to install iTunes onto either the Apple TV hardware itself or the NAS (as its running some sort of Linux).

Any suggestions would be great.

Sadly, Not yet. AFAIK, iTunes won't run on any flavor of Linux. And it's not iTunes specifically that the AppleTV 2 is looking for, It's the Home Sharing feature now built into iTunes 10.
