Default Need help with tethered boot

    Hi all,
I got my ATV2 today, so of course I had to hack it ASAP! lol
After some false starts and a TON of reading, I *think* I've successfully jailbroken the device.
However, I can't seem to get it to do the tethered boot.
I'm using Seas0nPass on OSX 10.6.2 running (very well) in a VMWare 7 Virtual Machine.
When I try to do the tethered boot, everything appears to go smoothly until it gets to the step that says "Uploading kernelcache.release...."
When that step begins, I see a progress bar very briefly, then the progress bar disappears, but the rest of the interface stays. I've let it sit this way for about 30 minutes now with no change.
The status LED on the ATV is blinking rapidly, as it should be, since I'm in DFU mode.
The micro USB and Power cables are connected, as instructed.
Any ideas what might be the problem?
Is there any way to verify if the jailbreak was successful other than booting it tethered?
    Thanks in advance,
    Elmojo

I don't think you can pull the tethered boot from a Virtual Machine (I tried). However, if you've already jailbroken your ATV2, you can do the tethered boot from Windows

Just follow this instructions. Just steps 11 and 12.

    [AppleTV2] ATV2 + 4.2.1 + Windows - XBMC Community Forum

You will need three files. tetheredboot.exe is in a link at the top of the post. And the other two files are inside the .ipsw file you will have in your VM (it's created by Seas0nPass as a part of the jailbreak process).

    Good luck with this

    Thanks for the tips!
I think part of my problem is that I haven't got a successful jailbreak yet.
I suspect it's probably related to the VM also.
Seas0npass keeps getting hung up partway through the process.
I've gotten it to successfully restore from the IPSW created by seas0npass once or twice, but I still can't ssh in from the VM running OSX.
I figured I'd just wait for a native windows version of Seas0npass, but I'd really rather not have to if you know if a way to make it work.
    Thanks!
    Elmojo
