full ios on atv2
I have tried the following things:
Move an application (safari for example) from the iphone 4 firmware to the applications folder of the atv2
move the missing frameworks from the iPhone 4 firmware to the right directories on the appletv.
use some files from the iphone sdk to replace some missing files.
launch the application from a terminal connected via ssh to the atv.
It hangs when saying it can't find the acceleremoter.
I think it's something simple related to plist files, nothing more.

The hardware is similar, but not the same. It's not that easy. Drivers and kernel extensions will need to be created. Not really worth the work. It's going to take some time to get anything usable. Although nitoTV is making great progress on NitoTV Take 3.

No one has managed to load kernel extensions since the iOS 1.x days as far as I know. It's not impossible but the focus/priority has not been on this.
think you are looking at this the wrong way though. There are interface/usability issues behind why SpringBoard has been replaced with LowTide.

Hi,
I bought the new black atv. Since it runs a slimdown version of iOS 4.1 I'm thinking that it would be very cool to "mod it" to run a full iOS such the one that runs on the iPad. It shouldn't be to difficult since iPad and atv2 have many common hardware components such as the a4 and the wireless chipset.
I already jailbroken the atv2 and tried to ssh in its filesystem which is very similar to the one of iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Unfortunately many components of a full iOS are missing such the springboard app replaced by the lowtide app.
I've also tried to do a simple "drag and drop" to replace these components and then execute them but it didn't work. The input methods wouldn't be a problem since it's possible to connect a bluetooth keyboard to appletv using btstack (google it!)
Waiting for answers!

I really don't understand what you are actually after
Lowtide is designed for the large screen, sofa - type usage scenario. Springboard is designed for use approx 15-30 cm away from your face.
Also springboard will be USELESS without a touch interface - maybe you could hack something up with veency - but it would be messy.
If you are simply referring to being able to "launch" iPhone/iPad apps on the Apple TV 2, people are working on a launcher that runs from within lowtide.
