i just hooked up my ATV2 and i can connect my ATV to my mac and brows media from under the computer menu. But if i am playing something in itunes it wnt let me push it to apple tv. my ipad and iphone dont recognize apple tv??

what am i doing wrong?

So you have done this: Setting up Home Sharing for Apple TV (2nd generation) and you can browse/stream videos from iTunes?

Have you tried everything in this document? Troubleshooting Home Sharing with Apple TV (2nd generation)

Are you running the latest iOS versions on your iPad, iPhone and ATV2? See this document for details: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4437

I just got it... the update didnt run on my apple tv. what i did was start the update and i was watching some stuff on it and i went out for a few hours. when i started watching things on the ATV the update stopped. I was on 4.0 and thats why im guessing it dint work.

Now im on 4.1 for some reason cant go to 4.2.1????

carefull ... the versioning on appleTV 2G is kind of confusing.
There are 4.1, 4.2 and 4.2.1. I don't think there was ever a 4.0 for appleTV2

if you upgrade to 4.2 & 4.2.1, that will be a tethered jailbreak ...

Make sure all your SHSH are saved.
btw, i'm still on 4.1 and no problem connecting to my itunes Library/computer

4.1 (as reported by the ATV2) is actually 4.2
4.1.1 (as reported by the ATV2) is actually 4.2.1

Both should work with AirPlay.
