Weird - ATV starts, then no more output to TV
My ATV was hacked and was working for >1 year.
Recently I did an upgrade through the system menu, next thing it boots, I see the "start-up animation", then the screen goes dark - nothing displayed.
The box still responds to SSH.
Tried a few more reboots - same behavior.
Any hints?
I'll edit this post with more info (versions, etc.) when I get home, but if any of the experts need specific info please reply and I'll try to provide it.
Thanks,

I had the same problem once when I installed ATVfiles... Everything booted as normal than black screen, could hear the noise from the remote but no picture.. I was told it was the resolution was wrong so tried this from apple
If your Apple TV is connected via component video and you don't see a picture, make sure you don't have an HDMI cable connected to Apple TV. If you don't, then try the following procedure:
Hold down the Menu and Menu up/scroll (+) buttons simultaneously on the Apple Remote for 6 seconds.
Apple TV will cycle through all of the available resolutions, displaying each for about 15 seconds. Please wait, as it may take up to 2 minutes before a compatible resolution is found. If the display is incorrect or doesn't show up, keep waiting while Apple TV continues to try and find a compatible resolution.
When a picture appears on the screen, navigate to OK with the remote and press the Select/Play/Pause button.
If you think you selected the wrong resolution, repeat these steps again. Apple TV works much better in HD resolutions such as 720p or 1080i. You should choose the 'best' resolution your TV supports.
If HDMI or DVI connections are available on your TV, you can use them instead of component video to avoid this process.
This didnīt work for me though, in the end i found something on the XBMC forum an article called "Black screen after installing something (fixed)" this worked for me. I have the link but it seems they have removed it... http://forum.xbmc.org/archive/index.php/t-70252.html.. But maybe if you serched there archive files you might find it

Thanks Neil.
I'm connected with HDMI...
However, I did find the thread you mentioned ([Apple TV] (fixed) Black screen after installing something [Archive] - XBMC Community Forum) so I'll try this a bit later.
Again, thanks for your help!
