    I have no idea how to load VLC. But i do wander, why would you want to do that. Using awkardtv's plugin, you can install perian to play practically anythign....

    easy as a walk in the park

    but maybe you're looking for a specific function in VLC

    <entry>
    <ref href = "mms://66.128.53.146/DIGITAL15"/>

    i have successfully installed VLC on AppleTV 2.0.2 and its quite easy.
    all you need to do is copy VLC.app to ~/Applications on your AppleTV.

    Then you can launch via the applications menu in nitotv.

    You will need USB enabled, and keyboard/mouse to navigate your way around.

    It will recognize the appletv remote, but to exit you will need to do command+q.

    Hope that helps.

    Default vlc

    to the best of my knowledge VLC uses the mplayer libraries and codecs. So if vlc can play it, mplayer certainly can.

    nitoTV provides mplayer for appletv. Go look for nitoTV to install mplayer and you will be happy.

    good luck

    ps. no need for a keyboard or mouse...

    thanks for pointing that out cousin. nitotv is well wicked and plays almost everything... but the previous poster was asking how to install vlc.

    vlc is handy to have... it also plays flac and can customize subtitles easier.

    i was having trouble increasing the sub font in mplayer so i use vlc when subtitles are involved.
