I used the Patchstick method to hack my AppleTV a few months ago. I remember having some issues with it and I didn't bother trying to fix it.
Now that something new is being announced soon, I want to get rid of it as soon as possible. When I plug it in, nothing is displayed on the screen and the light on the AppleTV is flashing orange.
ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you.
The new thing is likely to be a completely different device .The software that comes out with the new device won't work with your existing atv
Doesn't mean that you should not try and fix what you already have though.
What I meant was that I want to fix this problem so I can sell it before the new device is announced and the value of my current AppleTV drops significantly.Quote:

You either need to describe what you did before the problems started (in detail) or start with some basic troubleshooting.
- unplug unit
- after 1 minute plug back in and hold the menu and (-) button for 3 seconds. (unit should reboot and go into recovery mode)
- In recovery mode, run diagnostics and if passed then perform factory restore.
I've tried this, but as I said before, nothing is displayed on the screen so I'm not sure how I could run diagnostics.Quote:

You still haven't answered my question regarding what you did to the apple tv just prior to this problem starting. You just said that you hacked your atv with a patchstick a few months ago and gad a few issues. That sounds like it mostly worked (at least for a while).
If you get an answer, I'd like to know as I'm having boot issues (stuck on a poor quality apple logo which I describe in another thread: http://www.hackint0sh.org/f98/166723.htm) so can't get to diagnostics.Quote:
