Broadcom Crystal HD help
Hello All,
I have just upgraded my ATv1 with a Broadcom HD Crystal Decoder BCM970015... Installing the card was no problem, but when it comes to the rest it gets so confusing.. I had 3 choices try the patch stick from Broadcom or google code or an easy script from the XBMC forum.. I chose the XBMC option which told me to ssh into apple Tv and paste in this "defaults write com.teamxbmc.xbmclauncher XBMCAdditionalDownloadPlistURLs -array-add http://crystalhd.sartori.at/files/crystalhd.plist" which seems to work as the .mkv files play smooth. But in the playback menu from XBMC it says allow "Allow Hardware Acceleration (crystal HD) Render method-Auto.. But according to the Broadcom site it should say "Render Method-Crystal Hd" .. Which side is right... Does anybody who has Crystal HD installed remember which method they used... Is the method i used from XBMC forum ok?????:confused::fail

I would question whether it matters what the render method says if it works. It's likely that the site is out of date and the string was changed in the code at some point. If the crystalHD card was not in use, a 720p MKV would play but it wouldn't look great; the CPU just doesn't have the processing power.

HI gbooker everything running smooth 720p .mkv and 1080p .mkv I guess it is installed properly.. Was well worth the upgrade....

What version of XBMC are you running? I think it is supported natively in the newest.

Anybody else who is intressted in upgrading take my advice stay away from Broadcom patchstick (had to do system restore to remove it after boot loop problems) go with the XBMC option much easier..
