[AppleTV] Bricked by ATVPatch?
So, I have been running with a hacked ATV for months, and been greatly satisfied, only bugger was that I had to remount SMB shares manually everytime a connection was lost. So I thought, why not try ATVPatch as it was suddenly posted freely on their website. I used v2.4. It didn't install anything, and after a retry (which failed and suggested that I had to do a factory default again before reflashing), it boots with an atv4windows logo saying that something has gone wrong, try repatching. It boots into my ATV though but I'm not able to do a factory default, neither from the Settings menu or the diagnostics menu (6 sec menu and -) - in fact, the latter won't boot). None of the hacks appears to be installed, neither do I have SSH or telnet access. Have anyone experienced this?
What to do now? I suspect that the recovery image (v 1.0) is still intact (and in case it's not, I have a backup in a dmg file, recovery.dmg as used frequently out there). I would think that the ATVPatch is someway has simply altered the partition table or bootloader.
My theory is, that it somehow should be possible to create an old-school patchstick and thus enable ssh. From there the bootloader or recovery partition could be restored in someway. Does anyone have an oppinion on this approach, or alternative suggestions?
Some info about the system:
40 GB ATV, originally with the 1.0 firmware.
Currently running 2.0.2. Was entirely defaulted before ATV Patch update
It connects to iTunes without problems
I'm running OS X 10.5 on an MBP in case any files might be needed.
I'd greatly appreciate if anyone would spare a couple of minutes, thanks a lot guys :)
Got the same EASTER Egg with a BRICKTV LOGO
I got the same issue as the other person
I have the start up LOGO as a BRICK TV and tells me thanks for downloading the torrent
Also my restore partition is gone and I can not do factory restore. It just recycles back to the original 1.0 and will not allow any updates.
WHAT are we all going to do to fix this??
Any suggestions from anyone
I am trying to do the LINUX approach at this time and have had no luck trying to rebuild it.
