yes i'm barely at noobie level ...
i've made the patchstick, enabled ssh and the usb, loaded atvfiles and sapphire and even converted nearly 500G worth of movies in mpg4. but i just realised i have no idea how to save content to the aTV HDD -which by the way is 160g on a take2aTV. i can watch movies from the external via USB but i don't want to leave the external there.
assuming i never want to use iTunes (and i don't), what do i need to do next?

put them on a usb hard drive and get them with atvfiles, or put them in a folder labled movies in the frontrow folder and get them with atvfiles.
apologies for being so stupid -what does 'get them' mean? i can access and watch them via the USB hard drive and atvfiles but how do i get them to save to the aTV memory?Quote:

~\frontrow\Movies is already created on your AppleTv. you need to send your files using a ssh client (gui or terminal command line).
If you want to read directly on your usb connected to the aTV. you need to patch the original kernel.
if you want to read from a remote share, you can use nito tv to map your drive, then back to the root on aTV menu, go into the "File/places" section to see the mapped drive. The usb content is also listed here.

(i didn't realise the aTV was going to be so restrictive when i got it. just thought the movies were stored on the hard drive and you watch them when you want. if i knew about all this iTunes drama, i wouldn't have got it)
