Default Play video from usb-connected Time capsule (or any other drive)

    Hi,
I'm considering buying a 1T time capsule and an apple tv..

Is there any way to connect time capsule to aTV with usb and play video files directly from time capsule on aTV?
I want to use the space on aTV only for music and do this by sync'ing it with my iTunes library. When i download movies, i want to move them to time capsule and directly access them with aTV.

IS this possible? I've read something about USB enabling, but i'm not sure if you can only browse files on the usb drive and not play them or if you can do both.

    Thanks alot..

You need to boot it with a patchstick and install nitoTV.

You can create a patchstick with this http://code.google.com/p/atvusb-creator/

As far as installing nitoTV, you'll have to download it ( http://nitosoft.com/nitoTVInstaller_tt.zip ) and scp or sftp it in and install. If you don't know ssh you'll have to do some reading.

    Thanks alot!
I have some ssh knowledge, so i think i'll be alright if i find a decent walkthrough..

Installing nitoTV will not cause aTV to start using the TC as a primary drive, will it?
I want it to continue use its internal harddrive for syncing with my MBP and in addition be able to access the TC through usb/ethernet/wireless (whatever works)..

Your internal drive will continue to be the primary drive. There are tutorials to use a USB drive as the boot drive but i don't believe it will netboot form a TC
