i know the patchstick method (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=708) is working on a updated 1.1/1.0 to 2.0 ATV ... but is this working with an out of the box ATV2.0 ?
is there anyone with an ootb/otb ATV2.0 out there?

I just tried your method and iClarified. Neither of them worked for an OOB Take 2 bought yesterday, February 29th.

I tried each one twice and I'm pretty sure I didn't mess up anywhere.

They both gave the same result. The Apple logo shows up, disappears, and shows up again. It then asks me to choose a language and, after choosing English, it asks if I'd like to reset AppleTV or restore to factory settings.

SSH does not work after that.

I have a feeling it's newer Take 2s that might face this problem, but you may be better acquainted with that.

I am curious about what you find out. I want to crack this thing for my parents before I skip town in a week.

then you did NOT make a working patchstick.

i followed the instructions to the letter. everything worked out fine. I also followed the instructions on iclarified to the letter.

both successfully seemed to have worked in creating the patchstick. I know what I did was correct. I followed it to a tee. And I know what I'm doing.

both, however, gave me the same result on the new ATV.

if you look at the iclarified comments section, even the iclarified guy had an issue with the new ATV.

Please test it and see.

UPDATE:

I bought a SanDisk Cruzer 1GB USB stick, and it patched perfectly! I had initially tried to use a Kingston 1GB USB stick.

Apparently, not all USB thumb drives are created equally.

I can confirm that AppleTV Take 2 is hackable OTB.

I am using a 7GB Patriot and it does not Patch my Apple TV Take 2 - I will try a different thumb drive thanks a lot for the info.
