re: dvd import
looks like when i replaced my old faulty volume check code in the dvdController i was still just feeding it the volume name and not the entire path so it wasn't registering anything as a volume, is fixed for next release.

smb mounting issue:
Any news on what the problem is with SmartInstaller conflicting with mouting NAS Volumes? This is what is preventing me from being able to use NitoTV with my ATV no matter what FW version I have installed..
Thanks in advance!

I am not aware of any problem with mounting NAS volumes, if it is an AFP problem the likely issue is the fact that you dont have a recovery.dmg from a 1.0 appletv, if that is not in place afp will never work in any version.

That is a bug in the installer that i THOUGHT i fixed, however those files are just files that go into printer folders so i dont think they should prevent bluetooth from working. You are aware that you need a bluetooth dongle to get bluetooth working on the AppleTV right, it doesn't have the requisite hardware without one.
if you create the two following folders and then run the installer again those files will properly install
Code:
sudo mkdir /System/Library/Printers/IOMs/
sudo mkdir /System/Library/Printers/PBMs/
might need to mount rw before that will work
However if you are having problems getting bluetooth working i don't think those files will help.

@ Nito
Thanks for your great help.
To be honest, I didn't even try to use my BT dongle as I thought it wouldn't work with the two fails at installation.
Will do what what you suggest, thanks!

I don't see what this would have to do with AFP, though. My NAS uses plain ol' SMB (Server Message Block), which is what Windows computers typically use. (and the only thing that NitoTV supports mounting, if I remember right?) The first time I ever installed a patchstick and NitoTV I did the same steps as this time, but now I can't mount the NAS...
All I did this time was restore to factory settings (my default ATV FW is 2.3), install patchstick, and then install NitoTV (via ssh) and that was it... Any other suggestions?

Hi,
I am currently running ATV OS 2.4 and NitoTV 0.8.0 -- perfectly stable -- considering doing the upgrade to ATV OS 3.0.1 and NitoTV 0.8.2, but I'm seeing lots of problems with SMB shares.
I use SMB shares to access and play DVDs on my NAS. I'm wondering if anyone has gotten both SMB shares and DVD playback to work yet on 3.0.1/0.8.2? If so, could you post and say how the upgrade went for you?
I'm reading the problems that MrPink077 is having and don't want to run into the same issues if its not quite ready yet.
Thanks!

as long as your ran the smart installer as well there is no reason smb shouldnt work, getting everything to work under the hood (non-ui changes) shouldn't have been affected at all in 3.0 (Aside from the javascript framework issues, but that is totally unrelated to smb)
EDIT_2: okay deleted out that first edit, smb installed via the smart installer still works without issue, it worked fine for me just now after doing a patched (but still fresh) install. not sure why you would have problems.

Just tested smb out myself and it was working fine. this is an smb share im doing from my mac though as i dont have a pc to test one from. it DID work though. if there are any additional steps needed to make it work from a pc i am not aware of them.
