    Unhappy Cannot Mount NAS!!

So I decided to just do a factory reinstall today (FW 2.3) and install NitoTV (using NitoTV 0.7.4 initially) after the patchstick via ssh.

I was able to get everything to work up until I tried to install SmartInstaller. After downloading the required files, it hung up at "It's Thinking". I did the update to NitoTV via the software update within NitoTV to update to 0.8.2 and re-ran the SmartInstaller. It did install and had no errors, but when I go to mount my NAS (smb://192.168.10.***) and it says it's mounting but NEVER does.

So now I am at a place where something with SmartInstaller is broken no matter which version of ATV FW you have with NitoTV. I just want my ATV to work with NitoTV like it was 2 days ago before I ever thought about FW 3.0....

Anyone else having this problem or even care? Any news as to when/if this will be fixed if it is indeed a NitoTV problem? Thank you again in advance!

EDIT: Just an FYI - When I go to the 'Files' selection in NitoTV, it shows my folder there, but it does not allow me to view contents AND it does NOT have the eject option off to the left side of it... almost like it wants to mount it but can't for some reason.... ???

Default Resolving Smart Installer "It's Thinking" problem

I was successful in correcting this issue.

    1. ssh to the atv and create Documents (within the Frontrow profile)
    2. sftp to atv and copy over the MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.9Intel.dmg
    3. after the file is transfered, select Smart Installer from atv and it will finish the installation...

    cheers...

But I can't understand how you resolve the problem.

Can you make a "step by step" HowTo for me, please?
Thank's in advance and greetings from germany...

Thanks for the response. I just got home and checked the ATV via ssh. It appears the file AND Directory (Documents) already exist. Should I attempt to just reinstall Smart Installer again and see if that works? I think NitoTV 0.8.2 fixed the problem with it not creating the dmg in the correct directory, but I could be wrong? Any other thoughts?

THANK YOU for the help by the way!

    I reset my box when 3.01 came out and I re-installed 0.8.2

For me, best practice was to manual copy over the DMG file to the Documents folder...which seem to work.

I'm not sure in 0.8.2 fix the Documents folder problem... let me know.

    cheers

Default DVD import menu item missing

    Nito,

again I did a factory restore, installed os 3.01 and nitotv 0.82. Still, no dvd import item. Strangely, now even dvd playback (having set "mixed" mode) is barely working. What can I do to get the import-option back? Is my restore.dmg (using the os 2.2 from the recovery partition with the 1.0 os.dmg inside) faulty? I cannot think of anything else.

    Thanks,
    Robbe

Default Any chance without factory restore? Messed up with 3.0.1

Hi, I really messed up my ATV. I am using AppleTV with NitoTV from the very early 1.x days on. Today I finally updated from 2.4 to 3.0.1 and it booted fine. Then I tried to patchstick via ATVUSBCreator and the 3.0.1. image. The Linux installation steps all looked good, only the AppleTV doesn't successfully reboot but just cycles between differrent boots and finally lets me choose to restart or factory restore. I am afraid of the factory restore because I don't want to lose my content. Any hope for me for doing something else?
I already tried to repatchstick with the 2.4 image and even (I know ...) with patchstick.ca. Always the same: The patching process looks good, the AppleTV just only doesn't reboot properly after that.

    Thanks for any ideas!
@All, especially Nito: Keep up the great work, you are great!

    Regards, pretzelmonster.

I had the same problem, always needed to do a factory restore of the AppleTV. I suppose you won't come around that. Resyncing contents with a ethernet cable connection did not take more than one night.

    Good luck, Robbe

    Thanks Robbe,

I did the restore, update to 3.0.1 and patchsticked using the 2.4 image which worked fine. After manually installing NitoTV, I am now syncing and copying media back.

    Regards, pretzelmonster.
