netflix on original ATV?

has anyone taken the time to look at the new netflix app on the ATV2 and see if it will run on the original ATV?

I know that the new ATV2 is iOS-based, but I remember a dev team member commenting that a lot of it is still based off of the original ATV OS interface.

Anyone?

What the dev team / iOS hackers were saying is that if you have source code for an ATV1 app (frappliance) then it's likely not too hard to port that source code to ATV2 and recompile it for the A4 chip.

This is good news for things like NitoTV, sapphire, ATVFiles etc that might be able to be ported to ATV2 (they still need more development tools and a public jailbreak).

The big disadvantage of the ATV2 is that normal OS X apps cannot be run on it. The ATV1 had the ability to (with a bit of hacking) launch normal OS X apps that could run on 10.4.9 / Tiger - this is how boxee, firefox, xbmc, spotify etc were able to be run on the ATV1 - these kind of apps will need to be rewritten as iOS apps before they could be run on ATV2 (plus an application launcher frapplicance needs to be written)

However, an Apple written frappliance for ATV2 (without any public source code) can't be ported back to ATV1. The two platforms use mutually incompatible instruction sets (x86 versus ARM)
