Default Need help with Decision: iTV vs. Mini

    Hello everyone.

I know this might be a silly question.. but being an extremely poor freelance developer (at present)... I need help with a decision.

I want to have a simple device to hook up my 5-drive external chassis for File serving.. plus having a "server" for doing development that would be the MAMP stack, SVN, and RoR.

Is this too much for the little iTV? or is the struggle for the extra $300 a neccessity. Of course I would also very much like to plug it into the tv and watch movies and listen to music. But most important is the development work.

Advice.. suggestions.. .experiences... all VERY much welcome.

    Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

Get a Mini, the AppleTV lacks SSE3 instructions, which makes it a slow machine.
If the AppleTV has to do a few things at the same moment, the performance degreases very fast.

i have a mini for pretty much the exact same purpose (serving NAS, MAMP+svn, jukebox) and i really could not imagine trying to do all that on a little appletv.
Keep in mind, with the mini you also get upgradeable ram and processor, firewire, gigE...
I think it would be well worth the upgrade, IMO.

Perhaps try looking on ebay/craigslist for one of the older core solo models?
