    Default MythFrontend and remote

    I was able to put sshd, iScripts and MythFrontend and I can now launch MythFrontend but the remote doesn't work. VNC to the AppleTV allows me to use cursor, Enter and Esc to use the interface but it's not a permanent option.

    Any ideas on how I can resolve this?

    Get the myth devs to update their IR remote code to include the fixes requried for and AppleTV running r2.x.

    I have a standing offer to help point out the fixes needed but so far no mythtv dev has stepped up.

    A good start would be the launcher project in google code and xbmchelper in the xbmc svn. These know how to talk r2.x AppleTV IR.

    I'd be glad to do the work, but I don't have a OS X development environment. I guess I also don't have the time.

    How significant are the changes? Can you talk about those in this thread?

    see /branches/linuxport/XBMC/tools/EventClients/Clients/AppleRemote/AppleRemote.cpp ? XBMC ? Trac

    or

    AppleRemote.m - atv-xbmc-launcher - Google Code

    don't remember which method mythtv uses to register IR cookies. You can tell by looking at the existing mythtv IR handling for the Apple IR controller and matching what is do for 10.4/10.5 to the about links.

    In AppleReemote.m -> setCookieMappingInDictionary

    there is where a Real OSX box is detected (10.4/10.5) or the AppleTV. Notice that ATV OS 1.x, 2.0, 2.01 and 2.02 uses the same IR cookies as 10.4. 2.1 to 2.2 uses a new set as does 2.3+.

    I've added ticket #6422 to the MythTV trac system: #6422 ((MacOS X port) Apple TV remote support for 2.3 and others) ? MythTV ? Trac

    Let's hope it gets traction.

    This patch didn't work I'm afraid - see my comments in the ticket (#6422 ((MacOS X port) Apple TV remote support for 2.3 and others) ? MythTV ? Trac). Any advice on how we might go about adding support ? I'm going to try downgrade from 2.3 to 2.2 and see if the patch works for 2.1/2.2 at least but it certainly didn't work for 2.3.
