hit a bump...
Hi Ash,
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
I hit a bump today however. I tried to install the "ideneb 10.5.7 update" and after the install succeeded, it told me to reboot. Now I get the grey mac screen with the spinning boot up wheel. It just sits there spnning & nothing happens. If it was successful, I was going to install the 10.5.8 ideneb update after.
I suppose this serves me right, but the readme was not particuallr to me on what it was changing. I assumed there was some logic which saw the current install and then updated core files. Must have been wrong.
Any ideas how to figure out whats wrong?
Thanks

Maybe the Filesystem kext was updated - and this removed the filesystem IOPropertyMatch "5265636F-7665-11AA-AA11-00306543ECAC".
It might be, that the kernel itself was updated. If the new kernel doesn't have SSE3 emulation, then it won't boot.
Try to add the "-v" paramter to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist. This should disable the boot logo and show you the console output.

Either use another PC/Mac to mount the disk or try to boot from the install dvd. Connect the drive to the pc which you used to install and then launch terminal.app from the service menu.
You can use "nano" to edit the com.apple.boot.plist.

Hello everyone-
First off, you guys have accomplished some cool stuff! Ash great job on the first tutorial.
My idea is to use the Apple TV in my car for frontrow. Obviously I could just throw it in my car and use the atv OS, but it doesn't support any sleeping / hibernation so it would kill my car battery. Simply unplugging it and powering back up takes forever to boot so that will not work.
I thought I'd install Leopard on it and then use a griffin USB wheel control to control frontrow in my car. I have a few questions:
1. Would it be possible to get some sort of USB i/o device that would monitor my switched 12v line from the car that can send a sleep / hibernate command to the ATV running leopard?
2. How does frontrow work on Leopard on the ATV, is it pretty fluid?
3. Has color composite video been achieved? My Navigation deck in the car only accepts composite video inputs.
Thanks!
