i will admit im an objective-c fundamentalist and an apple zealot BUT im not of the school "apple can do no wrong" i will complain about some of the decisions they make until the cows come home. and they are definitely making a lot of microsoftian decisions (in a horrible way) that used to be things that distinguished them from the evil empire. like the new laptops, they hide behind the "Green" fašade with the inability to remove the battery unless its done by a mac tech. yeh thats "green" alright, but not green as far as the environment is concerned, green as in more green for apple and less ability for the normal user to replace their battery if needed.

i cant comment on things of how microsoft does things better / worse, and i cant imagine that visual studio does anything better than xcode, thats also because i AM of the school "microsoft can do no right" i've never used something from microsoft that worked in a logical or reliable fashion in my entire life, which is why i have avoided getting any hardware they make (ie xbox's), cuz if they can't do software right, then any hardware they make doesnt have a prayer.

I don't want to say, that your a mac fundamentalist, that was just an example. I consent with you that apple made some strange decisions*in the last time. I have the feeling that the apple guys get more an more arrogant as the market share rises, making decisions for only good for their own profit, but not for the users.
You're right about MS. Though the xbox 360 is a good device, even here they made some very annoying decisions, eg. the wireless controller uses a proprietary "bluetooth" protocoll. So you can't use normal bluetooth to connect the controller to the pc, but instead you have to buy a separate MS usb stick ...

Do you mean the new macbooks and mbps? Is that true, that I can't change the battery? I though about buying a new mbp in the next year, though I'm quite happy with my "old" Mbp 1.1, except that there is no 32-bit java 1.6 from apple ...

regardless if you were saying i am one im not offended or anything , any how re: battery

Apple - MacBook Pro - Learn all about the breakthrough battery

they claim it last longer in a single charge and that you will need to replace them less rrequently, i like this about as much as i like the inability to get at the iPhone battery without taking the phone apart. anyhow i really am going to stop because i dont want to hijack this thread any further

    Hi!

Thanks to ash and teog for their posts to install java!

I managed now to get the JDownloader working - I used the the "other" version from their website, not the Mac Version to get it working!

I wrote a sh Script which carries out all instructions for starting up Java (because it did not work for me to start it after booting the apple-tv), starting X11, setting the Display variable correctly and then after that running Jdownloader.jar
I put the whole script into a new App with Platypus and now it possible to start JDownloader with just 1 click in the Applications Menu from Nito-TV.

I can add Downloads on the Apple TV with Mouse & Keyboard, or I can use VNC or the built in WebInterface. If you configure your Router in the right way you can check your downloads from your Phone or any PC through the WebInterface - add new ones and so on...

If somebody needs any help to get it working, I can maybe give some Help / or I can share the Script or the JDownloader App.

    Regards Chris
