if you have it hacked already why even bother syncing it? and if you copy content over you shouldnt need to have itunes running on another computer anymore anyways. don't really see the sense to what you are trying to do. if you are trying to run a leopard version of itunes that would be the problem, i also just really dont grasp the logic of what you are attempting.

iTunes is an example how not to write software, I do not want it either on my PC.
But I have a iphone which I have to connect to PC once in a while.
Can u put put itunes on that atvusb stick for Windows so iphone can connect to Apple TV ?

My idea is to remove itunes.
I would copy the files via samba.
..but to use music and photo interfaced to the original menu, it should rebuild the indexes or imported titles in the original library database.
so I thought that if itunes works on appletv, cron or other script to launching the itunes cli for import songs and photo.

Hi, I have the same question as maxtemplar.
I hacked the appletv so I could get rid of my big noisy computer. I have samba working on the appletv so it's not a problem to copy media files on to the appletv, but I would like to use the 'normal' frontrow interface to browse/play media files instead of a plugin. Is this possible?

An attempt: I installed firefly/mt-daap on the appletv hoping that I could share files stored locally on the appletv using localhost but that didn't seem to work since you need itunes to enter the pin. Any ideas?

Then yes, you can use Front Row.

No, I haven't installed OSX, just atv-usb creator, softwaremenu, nitoTV, etc... So, I guess I either have to install OSX and then run iTunes and FrontRow or use something like XMBC with my current configuration. Thanks.
