    Default itunes movies..?

have just added ssh and various plug-ins following various guides.

however, if i select the "Movies" menu item, it only displays the online sources, ie "Top Theatrical Trailers", not the contents of my iTunes Movies section, which contains Quicktime Link files to pre-existing xvid/divx avi files on a samba share.

why are these quicktime link files not being displayed?

essentially, i would like the appletv to be able to stream the videos i have, but make it look like it is contained within the iTunes library. an alternative would be to gain direct access to the network samba share, if this is possible aswell...

any help with this would be much appreciated.

    regards,

ok, so i have had some progression on this issue, but now facing further issues/dilemmas/etc.

if i create a referenced movie using quicktime pro, it still only points off to the avi, which cannot be copied to the appletv (only h264 and mpeg2 i believe)

another alternative i have found from awkwardtv is to create a "blank.mov" file and to combine this with any/all avi's at the start, as the appletv only scans at the start of the video stream for the encoding that has been used. this would require editing of ALL my movies, and all future ones, so not ideal.

i am currently at the stage of using the ATVFiles.frappliance (make sure you use the 0.4 version if you have appletv v1.1). this works "outside" of itunes, so again isnt ideal at this point in time (am hoping some genius comes up with the final solution in due time!)

this adds a menu entry called "Files" if you have anything in the /Users/frontrow/Movies directory.

    my dilemma is now this:
How do i create symlinks to a remote network share? (the nas device is a linux device, so assume i could use nfs or smb to connect..?) also remember, i am on appletv 1.1...
i am investigating aTV-ShareMounter but there is little info behind it all as to syntax, etc, in the mounts.xml file.

    any help would be appreciated.

p.s. what is the difference with all the sharity, shlight and other utilities people are using to mount various disks?

Connect through nfs, atv supports it out of the box (almost). Get ssh access to atv and

    Code:
    sudo mount_nfs -P 192.168.1.20:/raid/data/NetHD /Users/frontrow/movies
just replace 192.168.1.20:/raid/data/NetHD with your own server tho. And that will mount it right to the movies folder, if you wanted to mount to a folder inside the movies folder (which I dont know why you would), just create a folder under the frontrow/movies folder before mounting and point to that folder.
