Default how to install AFP on AppleTV Take2?

how to install AFP on AppleTV Take2? i am using sftp (with cyberduck) to transfer my files to my AppleTV. but it seems that it is a lot slower than using afp. my previous afp hack was gone after upgrading to firmware 2.1. thanks

nitoTV can cover the installation of everything you need with the proper files in the ~/Documents folder on the appletv, if you have the 10.4.9 intel combo update as well as a properly made recovery.dmg generated from a 1.0 appletv (originally 1.0, not currently running 1.0)

some info on nitoTV, don't ask me where to find the recovery image, can't distribute it. But if you have an appletv that has 1.0 originally you can dd it yourself.

there are some additional information resources on getting everything (including afp) working in 2.0 compiled together on this particular wiki page

many of these things can be accomplished in the smart installer with the proper files, in additiona perian and many other things can be installed, in addition to patching for usb connectivity and installing the turbo kext loader can also be performed in the smart installer.

smart installer requires the mac os x intel combo update 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 AND a recovery.dmg generated from an appletv that shipped as 1.0 (in the /users/frontrow/documents folder), i said that in the first message. there was also a wiki link with instructions and all the things you need if you dont have access to an appletv that started at 1.0

AFP functionality is really great on the Apple TV. However, I find that NitoTV (using mplayer) often has issues playing videos in the right aspect ratio. ATVfiles has no problem with that nor does Sapphire (which I guess uses the built in player as well).

you can use the built in player in nitoTV as well, there is an option in settings to use quicktime, mplayer or a mixed mode. i recommend the mixed mode because there are various codecs that will not play in quicktime.
