I have the same problem using 10.5.8 ver2 image but I used TRANSMAC to format the HDD with the DMG

The image took days to download. How can I get it again quicker?

Not having any success trying TRANSMAC I successfully cloned the 10.5.8 optimized version DMG on a friends MAC.

It seems to be working well but I am experiencing very slow unusable download speeds through my linksys 4200 / DD-WRTed router. (The ethernet port on my ATV is broke.)

Is there any settings I can adjust either in OS X on the ATV or in DD-WRT on the router that can help with this?

If and when usable download speeds are achieved, which of the suggested APPLE software updates are safe to install on this OS X build?

Anyone run Jdownloader on this? It hogs the whole system down and downloads are broken. Will installing Tiger instead help, and if so, is there a similar image to download?
I wanted to use the ATV as a fanless (yes, I took it out) bitTorrent client, but also for Jdownloader and aMule. Will a fanless G4 Cube be faster than ATV for these programs?

    Default 10.5.5 vanilla

I downloaded the 10.5.5 vanilla (because I want sound, and the dmgpart 002 is missing from the 'Lite' download).
I Carbon-copied it to the ATV drive, but when I put it back in the ATV, all I get is a flashing question mark.

    What am I doing wrong?

Did you make one partition on the drive to copy the image to?

Yeah. since i posted, i've downloaded the 10.5.8 image, which worked flawlessly. So maybe it's a problem with the 10.5.5 image?
Is there an audio fix for 10.5.8 yet?
And thanks for the quick reply!

Great post. Worked first time and by the way i have the 160 GB HDD and it worked fine.
The only issues i have are.
    1. HDMI output shows up in a resolution that my monitor doesn't like (scan lines). When i press menu on my remote the screen goes blank. press again and it come back the same.
    2. The low audio on analog output.
Has anyone resolved the low analog audio as i don't have a digital receiver.
