I didn't do anything special. I guess the drivers that come with leopard 10.5.8 are working better for the nvidia card.

    Unhappy nVIDIA

    Interesting...

I've got a base install of 10.5.6 ideneb, but can't get OQ or CI working.
Any idea how to invoke the correct driver?

    Thanks

    Question ok, another question...

    Ash,

I've axed trying to get 10.5.8 working and gone back to 10.5.6. It's setup quite well now.

I was following your updated info and came to the flashing LED.
I placed osputil in /usr/bin/osputil, however, there is no rc.local in /etc/.

So I just created this file and stuck the code in which you suggested.
No luck however, still flashing LED.

    Ideas?

Yea I tried that as well though a blinking LED is something I can live with.

Did you add "#!/bin/bash" on the first line of the rc.local as well?

    Did you "chmod +x rc.local"?

Try to use the command in terminal. If it works there, then something's wrong with your rc.local.

I'll begin to upload my 10.5.8 install today on Wuala (maybe rapidshare ...), though sound doesn't work properly. I think I can't resolve this issue myself, but maybe one of you can do this.

    Thumbs up Image working!

    Hi Jon,

Got the image today, just restored it & it fired up fine. Nice work & thanks.

There was a couple of hundred mb's of software updates required when I 1st installed the image. Just installed now & waiting for reboot.

Interesting issue with the low volume. I was not aware it was so low from discussions with Ash. In 10.5.6 it's perfect. not so now however in 10.5.8. It's using a totally different driver from what i can see in the prefs.

I'll try the LED fix tomorrow.

Quite interested to see if I can work some performance gains in. the .5.6 on my other drive is going very well.

    Thanks again.

Default How to do a clean 10.5.8 install?

Hello to all! Some time ago, I had Tiger and Leopard running on my Apple TV, just for the fun of doing it.

Now, I want to Install Leopard 10.5.8 on the Apple TV for the torrents... my hold PowerMac uses a lot of power and I want to use my Apple TV for It!

Right now, this is getting a little confusing, so, I need a Little help.

    - I've already Installed leopard 10.5.8 on an external hard drive and updated + little snitch.
    1. Latest boot.efi from Apple TV

I want a clean install so watt I need to know is:

    1. Do I need to use the old sse2/sse3 kernel or the Voodoo 9.6 one is working?
    2. Do I really need to install smbios 667, firewire fix, acpi fix, ihcx fix?
    3. Seatbelt fix is also needed or the DMG's are opening ok?
    4. ALC885 is also needed right? Does it works ok wit Quicktime now, or, do I need VLC?
    5. Watt other kexts do I need to erase?

    6. Do I need dsmos and disabler also installed?
    7. on 10.5.8 Do I need to change other kexts?

    8. The latest voodoohda as a prefs panels. Does it work to max out the sound level?

    9. About the Leo Snow. Is there a ss2/ss3 kernel so we can test it also on the AppleTV?

    Thanks' and regards,

    Xanix

I'm still downloading jon's image (and uploading my image). I'm quite excited to see how it works. I'm especially interested in the the sound issue ...

The led fix did work for me since Tiger. I just copied the osputil over, tried it on the command line, and added the command to rc.local.
Just one command didn't work: the one to reset the boot count to zero, so that the next time you start the ATV OSX the recovery agent doesn't appear.
