I'd be glad if you provide all the selected packages you intalled?

I have stereo sound now, but the volume is very low. I installed AppleHDAFix and AppleHDAVoodoo. I additionally applied the ACL885 Patch but the volume always stays at this low level.

Futhermore, I'm unable to open the audio prefpane, Spotlight doesn't work on my external usb root drive. Sleep, Restart don't work too.

So obviously there are many things to fix. If you'd post a detailed list, on what and how you installed your system, this would be really helpful to all users.

    Questions:
    * What OSX86 did you use (ideneb, iATKOS, ...)?
    * What packages did you install (kernel, patch, fix, drivers, ...)?
    * Did you install any other fixes, not provided by you distro?
    * Did you manually hack any Kexts, Info.plists, ...?

It's fine that it works for you. But some other users want to get it working too. Just to say, use this kernel is not good enough - at least for me - because there are so many possible combinations of kexts, fixes or whatsoever. Trying all these combinates is a good amout of work.

    Arrow My details

    Ash,

    My details were:
    * What OSX86 did you use ideneb 10.5.6
    * What packages did you install (kernel, patch, fix, drivers, ...)? voodoo + everything in your post on how to get atv working.
    * Did you install any other fixes, not provided by you distro? only audio which you gave me
    * Did you manually hack any Kexts, Info.plists, ...? only ones in your instructions
I have a working ATV dmg if 10.5.6 if you want it. it's 4GB.

Every time I try to install the ideneb updates to a working osx-atv, it bombs out.

    hope this helpls.

    Thanx. I originally though you're running 10.5.8. That's why I asked. But I just saw, that it's JonMS who's running a working 10.5.8 installation.

So, now we need the detailed infos from JonMS too.

Installed ideneb 10.5.5 with pacifist. My Macbook Pro wouldn't boot the disk. used all recommended packages. My appletv booted just fine. then I plugged the hard drive into my MBP via adapter and booted from it. Followed netkas guide to updating to 10.5.8 (installing special dsmos.kext and disabler.kext) rebooted then ran the update from Software Update. Let the update install and reboot as needed. Then booted into my main install on my MBP (Snow Leopard ) and installed a 9.8.0 based on voodoo. Plugged the hard drive back into apple tv only to get a kernel panic from ApleHDA.kext. Removed it and installed VoodooHDA.kext and now have a fully working machine.

EDIT: I have my base install of iDeneb 10.5.5 that I restore to start over from. If someone could teach me to split it up and pop it on rapidshare I'd be more then happy too.

You can user Betterzip (with rar integration) to spilt files up.
How's the sound volume on your appletv leopard install? It's very low for me.

Do you boot off of the media partition? How did you bless? I get an error here.

I formated the drive to HFS with GUID partition table. I blessed with the commands from Mac OS X running on Apple TV.
I havent plugged the sound into its own speakers. I have used line in on my main desktop and the volume has been fine albeit a little feedback but none what so ever when I used my Astro A40 headset to test the sound as well.

Thumbs down ATV 10.5.8 Progress - kind of...

    Hi Jon,

I've been playing around, trying to follow your instructions, but am stuck.

I had a working 10.5.6 ideneb install, I followed your instructions, did the pre 10.5.8 combo patches from Netkas. Then rebooted, then installed the combo update via apple update.

I don't have a intel mac (only g5), so rebooted in the ATV & the combo update installed. Then once finished, I tried rebooting it and all I get is a grey boot screen with the spinning wheel. it reboots after about 2 minutes and does the same thing over & over.

I then plugged my hdd into my G5 mac and put the updated voodoo kernel & kext's in as per your instructions.

I stuck the hdd back into the atv, but it now just sits on the grey screen with the wheel rolling around and the hdd shuts off after about two minutes. Grey apple screen just sits spinning

My largest issues is not having a intel mac to invoke the -v at startup to see where it's bombing out.

    Do you have any ideas?

You can edit the com.apple.boot.plist from your g5 mac. Just plug in your atv hdd and navigate to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ on the hard drive and edit it form there or you can do this in terminal

    sudo nano /youratvdiskname/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

and add -v to the kernel flag section.

Question Core Image, Quartz Extreme, Quartz GL

    Ash,

How did you get Core Image, Quartz Extreme & Quartz GL working on 10.5.6?

When I look up the graphics info in "about this mac" "more info" it says it's disabled.

    Thanks
    Litespeed
