Default DVB-C with EyeTV Hybrid on ATV1

Yes, I can watch and record DVB-C channels on the ATV1 using EyeTV 3.0.3 (4027) with the EyeTV Hybrid Stick (Model 2008).

I had EyeTV installed with the commands:
    sudo mount -uw /
    sudo hdiutil mount EyeTV_3.0.3.dmg
    sudo cp -R /Volumes/EyeTV/EyeTV.app/ ~/Applications/EyeTV.app/
    sudo hdiutil unmount /Volumes/EyeTV/
When running EyeTV for the first time, writing for the root partition ( sudo mount -uw / ) should also be enabled, because EyeTV installs some configurations for itself. I had made an full scan for TV-stations (this takes some time).

EyeTV works fine on my ATV1 since over a half year.
For a better performance, you can switch off the De-Interlacing.

    Default Question about EyeTV install

I decided to hack my 1st gen ATV and wanted to install EyeTV on it. I installed ssh and was able to get the EyeTV app copied to the ATV using the instructions here. When I try to run it through nitoTV, I get the authenticate dialog box indicating that EyeTV is trying to update a device driver and needs my password... I can't figure out how to enter the password. (Maybe I am missing something else...) Any help is greatly appreciated.

For Text Input, a USB Keyboard or a VirtualKeyboard is required.

This weekend I have been playing with my "new" ATV1 (got from ebay, atv enabled) so I'm a newbie with ATV.

I was able to install EyeTv 3.0.1 just by dropping the app into Application folder and running it from NitoTv Application menu.

I used VNC to go through the setup and this seems to be the easiest way if you don't have a USB hub to connect both the TV dongle and a keyboard.

But I'm courious about the fact you are able to run version 3.0.3, I tried with 3.0.2 but it didn't start.
What version of tiger do you have?
I could try with 3.0.3, but Im afraid it would be difficult to downgrade if something goes wrong.

How long should it take your EyeTV to start up?
Mine takes more than 5 minutes ... I understand that it does a lot of swapping with only 256Mb of memory, but this looks too much.

    Thank you

It's not sufficient to drop an already installed EyeTV just from the appropriate Mac folder into the ATV Application folder. You have to install EyeTV from the .dmg as described in Post #2.

I'm using the MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.10Intel.dmg with the nitoTV Smart Installer. The ATV OS is 3.0.2.

My EyeTV needs only 25 seconds to start completely.

The problem is not dropping but using the file directly from .dmg, so you can drag and drop or use the long route as long as you use the uninstalled file.

Will it work with Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update too?

I don't think so, because the current nitoTV Smart Installer supports only the 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 Combo Update.

    I have this strange problem:
I have a working EyeTV 3.0.1 that has a problem of distorcing video on the right side of screen.
I tried to install 3.0.2 using your instructions but it doesn't start up (grey apple forever, nothing happens).

I could try with 3.0.3 but shouldn't it require 10.4.11?
