    Default Dual internal harddrives?

It seems that with one of these handy cables:
    http://www.cablesonline.com/102driv44pin.html

One should be able to hook the existing 40gb harddrive and another (say my new 100gb) harddrive togther and run them internally... Is there any reason this wont work?

    It's well worth a try.

You should consider that some 2.5" Harddisk does not have jumpers to change their status Master/Slave/CableSelect.

Designed to be in laptop, most of the these small Harddisks wont accept another device on the same IDE ATA bus.

If someone wants to give a try, better check if the internal AppleTV Harddisk has jumpers.

Isn't that "handy cable" only a regular IDE cable?
or do I have to buy exactly THAT cable to try this out?

It is a simple IDE cable with 3 connectors, so the harddisks will have to accept each others.

The cable I posted a link to is the 44 pin cable for laptop (2.5", 44 pin, mini connector) harddrives. A "normal" (ie for full sized harddrives) cable wont work

Also, if they dont have jumpers, they hopefully will work via cable select. It is clearly something that will take alittle experimentation to get to work right. I also pulled mine apart, and the 2nd harddrive is just not going to fit in the case without a few mods. I am going to add a small 40mm fan and a 2nd hardrive hopefully though...

I've got OSX dual booting by installing OSX to the media partition and it works great. It doesn't interfere with ATV OS
