Default Can't get Patchstick to work

I have been trying in vain to get my 10 gb drive to serve as a Patchstick. I had a very nicely hacked Apple TV (actually 5 of them) until I upgraded the Apple TV's to 1.1. I can't get the hack to work anymore. I have tried loading the wen based Patchstick files and to create one manually. I am using the boot.efi file from Apple's upgrade site. The USB drive does not seem to be starting up the Apple TV. I get the Apple TV start screen (the solid Apple) and no text on the screen. The Apple TV cycles a few times and then makes me re-initialize as English and set the video. No files are added.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong. My best guess now is that my USB drive is too big, but that seems crazy. Only other thought I have is that the drive has a few weird nuances - I need to initialize it with firewire connection and I am using firewire to create patchstick, but connecting usb to Apple TV. This worked in past however.

I also noticed that when I make the patchstick now it shows as two drives on my desktop (patchstick and patchstick root). Any suggestions before I start pulling the device apart and installing SSH by the hardware method?

Here is the output (tried this about 15 times now on two different Apple TV units):

    Pgershon-Laptop:~/desktop/patchstick root# ./createpatchstick /dev/disk1

Why does it make a difference how big the USB storage device is? Not sure what device to use? I cant get my iPod to initialize in GUID and been told that this is a Mac OS X 10.4.6 and above issue.

Well, the script only works with small sticks - there are problems reported with sticks larger than 1 GB.
But in your case i have no idea whats going wrong...
I have also 1.1 ATV and the stick works perfekt, i patched it serveral times.
Have you tryed rebooting after the faild reboot?

Failed same way on 512 K drive.
    You are using a stick?

I am using a stick, and I did try rebooting after the failed boot, several times.

I finally got the Apple TV to boot with a USB drive (not with patchstick), just to verify that it was still possible. I used new boot.efi file but older mach_kernel from web. It worked, although machine is not joining my wireless network. Trying to work out thatkink, as it has joined in the past
