Default Can I hook an iPod up to my (hacked) Apple TV?

Kind of an odd, stupid question, but I don't have my iPod cable (I loaned it out) to test this out right now, so I figured I'd just go ahead and ask.

I have a USB hub hooked up to my Apple TV, and to this USB hub, I have an external drive hooked up, with 3 ports still open. I occasionally hook a USB flash drive up to one of the ports when I want to load up something real quick that I've just downloaded or just isn't on that hard drive (which I'd simply add the files to, if I could access the external drive that's hooked up to my Apple TV over the network...but, such as it is...), and it works just fine for that purpose.

I have an iPod cradle that requires an iPod cable to hook up to a computer's USB ports in order to load songs onto it or play from it in iTunes. Which is dandy and all. I haven't used it in awhile, and have no real idea why I even bought the thing, but, nonetheless, I have it.

    My questions are:

If I hook this iPod cradle up to my USB hub (connected to the Apple TV), will the Apple TV read the contents of an iPod that's plugged into it?
If so, would I somehow be able to access and play what's on it, without too much trouble?
    How?
    With which program(s)?
Do I need to install anything else on my Apple TV?

NitoTV has some support for this. It is not installed by default - the support is based on MacFUSE and iTunesFS so depending on your iPod's library version it should work (iPhones and iPod touch may also work - up to at least iOS 3.0)

I have never actually used this - so am not 100% sure what works or not.

@nito - please comment further if I am wrong about any of this.

I would try it out - it likely works fine.

yes it does work after itunesfs is installed, there was a bug in prior versions that forgot to copy over a file that is needed if a specific folder is missing but im pretty sure i've fixed it in the latest release. older ipods definitely work (my 5.5 gen video ipod works fine) i dont remember if it can play videos off of it but music definitely works through i think artists or album selections, i dont think the references through playlists worked but its been a while since ive done it.

i dont think iphones or ipod touches will work but i could be wrong, i dont remember my phone ever mounting when i tried it.
