Can I access my Apple TV/external hard drive over the network from a Windows machine?
I have an old Windows-based laptop that I use as a sort of "download computer", so I'd like to transfer a lot of what I download to the external hard drive that's hooked up to my Apple TV. What I did a while ago (overnight) was access these files from my Macbook Pro over the network, and transfer them from the Windows laptop to the Apple TV over the network. Needless to say, this was slow and ineffective.
How can I access the Apple TV over the network straight from my Windows machine?

When you patchstick your ATV and use nitoTV's smart installer properly, you get SMB, SFTP and FTP support - all of these can be used to access your ATV from windows.

I assume this means that I would have to use an FTP client, or somesuch, correct? I can't access it with Explorer?

SMB can be accessed via Explorer - that is the native Windows filesharing protocol.
