Question Best way to use atv as a "standalone" device?

I've tried searching here for this, but I can't find a search term that comes up with what I want.

Currently, my atv has already been patched, and runs Boxee well. I also have already upgraded the hard drive to a 250GB drive. SSH is functioning as well. I have my atv set to sync to my iTunes library on my MacBook Pro.

My MBP is now getting full, so I want to make it to where I just manually add my media to the atv via the finder. What is the best way to accomplish this? I'm fine with "starting over" with the atv if I have to, though would prefer not to if at all possible.

Enable Samba or AFP and mount the frontrow home directory as network drive. Then simply copy over the files you want to play. If you use nitoTV, you have to copy your files to the Movies folder. With ATVFiles you can copy it whereever you want and then add this location to the "Places" (settings menu).
Or you simply buy a cheap usb drive, and plug it into your ATV. The drive gets mounted automatically and both in nitotv and ATVFiles you should see a new Folder with the same name as your drive.
