    Default ATVFiles accessing a USB Drive/NAS

    Is there a way to get ATVFiles to access a USB (attached to Apple TV) or Airport disk.
    There are all kinds of posts on booting from a USB drive. But it would seem that acccessing files from a external USB drive or an Airport Disk would be cool to get going.

    I access my AirPort Disk on my AppleTV using Files. I did post something on the wiki at awkward tv which I'm sure has gone unnoticed.

    1) Use ATV-ShareMounter to mount the AirPort disk as an AFP volume. To figure out the volume get info on a mounted airport disk on your computer. For instance here is my Mounts.xml file:
    Code:
    <?xml version='1.0'?>
    <mounts>
            <mount>
                    <type>afp</type>
                    <mountpoint>Movies/</mountpoint>
                    <server>AaronNBase.local.</server>
                    <share>/HD2</share>
                    <username>username</username>
                    <password>password</password>
            </mount>
    </mounts>
    This will mount the /HD2 partition of my NAS at /Users/frontrow/Movies/ every time the AppleTV boots this will mount automatically.

    2) Set the ATVFiles preferences to point to that folder and enjoy.

    Noticed I used the AirPort Disks bonjour name so it is not IP address dependent

    Can you link over to that wiki article? Alternatively, could you explain a little further? For example, where does the file mounts.txt go? Thanks.

    it was merely a small side mention I typed in the possibilities section of the wiki. The above post by me has more useful information so it's no big deal.

    For where you put the Mounts.xml please consult the readme in aTV-ShareMounter.zip
    Code:
    aTV-ShareMounter 0.1

    Quite a simple FRAppliance really.
    Add it to the usual place for Back Row plugins.
    You'll need a Mounts.xml in /Users/frontrow, a sample one is included.

    You can substitute <type>afp</type> for <type>nfs</type> if you're running NFS shares instead.
    Mountpoint is relative to /Users/frontrow, the sample XML has paths that work for ATVFiles.
    Mountpoints will be created before mounting, so no need to pre-create directories.
    Rest of the XML tags should be self-explanatory, however you must take note that share names
    with spaces WILL need to be escaped.

    Any problems, bug me on irc.moofspeak.net, #awkwardtv
    That should help you
