    Default ATV to use with external USB DVD/CD drive

    To use an external USB DVD/CD drive, I need the following kext files/folders from an Intel MAC with a MAC OS version <= 10.4.10:

    * IODVDStorageFamily.kext
    * IOCDStorageFamily.kext

    I haven't a MAC, so anybody have an idea to get them without buying a MAC?

    Thanks

    You could try to download the 10.4.9 combo updates from the apple site and extract the kexts from there. But i guess you'll need at least an installed linux to mount the disk image.

    That's the crux: This two kexts aren't include in this combo update.

    For hard discs, not for cd/dvd drives. Or in which guide I can read about it?

    Well, as far as i know, there is no guide for installing an external usb dvd/cd drive.
    Send me a PM and - if i don't forget - i'll make sure you get the right files ;-) by this weekend.

    But i can't guarantee that this will enable you to use your drive. Though ATVfiles creates a link for a mounted exteral hdd drive/flash stick in your ~/Movies-Folder does not mean, that it will do that for your dvd drive as well.

    Personally i'd like to see the external dvd drive for the new Macbook Air working with my ATV. Would be nice to watch dvd movies on ATV ...
