    Thanks for uploading.

Looks fine and works good, but still no sound output using component video-audio or HDMI/component-audio and frontrow only has black screen.

I was able to get Audio working with RC cables (Red & White) going to line in, in my pc and playing through my pc speakers

    Thumbs down Low Volume

Yeah Jon, I have the same setup RC cables (Red & White), however the volume is extreamly low. Exactly how Ash described it.

From what I can tell the driver in you're install is different to what worked perfect in 10.5.6. That was the ACL885 sound driver patch.

    Any ideas on this?

Yea that driver causes kernel panic in 10.5.8 so the Voodoo HDA is the only alternative. I have not tried the latest version with a preference pane so feel free to try it.

Solution for the "black screen on hdmi"-issue: unplug the hdmi cable or power off (not standby) your TV, then plug the cable in again or power on your TV set. At least for my setup this works.

Try to use hdiutil instead of Disk Utility or dd. Use "man" or the internet to find out how to use this tool. I once had to use it, but I don't remember the correct command.

With "hdid attach -nomount image" you can mount the image to a /dev/diskx. The you should be able to dd the contents of the image to the new location.

    Same error here.

I tried "dd if=*Image-File* of=*ATV HDD*" but after copying it I couldn't mount the hdd anymore -> wasn't readable.

I'm only using Mac OSX DiskUtility.

    1. Partition your destination disc with 1 partition named OSBoot.

    2. Select your destination-HDD in DiskUtility, then press the restore-button.

    3. Mount Jons image with doubleclick, so you can see it in DiskUtility.

    4. Right-mouse-click on your OSBoot-partition opens context-menu, then you can select it as destination.

    5. Do the same with Jons OSBoot-image, which is contained in the AppleTV OSX.dmg and select it as source. >> Only select the OSBoot, not the ATV OSX.dmg. <<

    6. Select the option to erase the destination, then the restore is going faster.

    7. Now you can press the restore-button, type your password an wait about 20-25 minutes, then it's done.

I've translated it from german OSX, so the names of the buttons may be a little bit different to the english ones, sorry for that.

    I hope your successful.

Thanks! My mistake was me only choosing the volumes and not the specific partitions. Now it works fine and I'm setting everything up. Hope I can get the firewall, ids system and vpn server running stable.

The problem here seems, that you guys didn't copy the image to a partition but to the whole drive instead. The last will not work, because it is not a "disk" image but a "partition" image.
